LET'S TALK ABOUT THE DESIGN PROCESS

How on earth do you go from this to this?!

When we start working together, we will engage in a series of steps lovingly referred to as the Interior Design Process. Working with an Interior Designer can be confusing. You know you need help, but have no idea how we do what we do, or what to expect in terms of deliverables and communication from us. Add to that a degree of ambiguity that is, frankly, all too common in our industry and it can be a recipe for miscommunication and unmet expectations. You don't know what you don't know!
Now, I can hear you saying already:
"But obviously she isn't talking about me! I watch [insert favourite renovation show here] religiously.
I have a pretty good idea of how this works."
Hold my beer.
I am here to tell you that real-life interior design projects are nothing like the 30 minute episodes you see on TV *gasp!* As an example, in surgery shows, the person shows up, meets with the doctor for 5 minutes, and then is under the knife immediately after, and fully healed and walking a runway in the span of 30 minutes. But, we inherently know that this process actually takes months (or even years) of planning, testing, revisiting, decisions, and patience, because at some point we've all been to doctor.
This is similar to design shows, except not everyone has been through a renovation. You rarely see the people behind the scenes working on floor plans exhaustively, or researching for hours to find the perfect chair, or standing in line at the permit office behind 16 people at 3pm on a Tuesday. But these are all things that are happening in the background, and they aren't included because, well, that doesn't make for very good TV!
My goal is to arm you with the information you need to understand how we will work together and what you can expect from me, because I want you to have THE BEST experience, and I want you to LOVE your space.
